Boundary Waters Canoe Area Walleyes: Boundary Waters for Walleyes:
I've read that most of the water in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is too deep and infertile for the support of a large number of gamefish. I've caught bass and a few northerns, but walleyes are tough. Especially tough when most people can't keep their live-bait alive during the paddle/portage to your campground Stay shallow for those walleyes. The large bluffs along the shore are pretty...but seldom hold any walleye. Crankbaits will work if pulled slowly, but jigging works best.
