Terry, I am also interested in how far out you were and what you were using to get the results you got. A group of us are going up to dickies this weekend and hope to have the same luck. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Hello Cookie,

Thanks for the fishing reports. My first day on this email. What a great way to communicate to the fisher people. My Brother, friend, and I are coming this wk-end. Wonder if you could give us advise on where to go out from and where your located. We fished last year early out of Rogers and late out of Hudecs. We will definatly be picking up our garbage as we strive to be sportsman and hate garbage in our hunting woods. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Brian/Bob/Jerry

South east side of Big Island in 25-30 feet of water. Went out on saturday, caught 5 walleyes, all 12"-19"! fish between big island and the small island to the south of it. only fish from 3pm to 7pm. Nothing but northerns past 7pm. If you want some fun for the kids, fish same spot from 6am to 12(Noon), can't keep perch of the hook, NOT KIDDING, all very small though.

Fishermen as I have stated . we have been fishing in the same general area since the last week in dec. If you go to the westwind web site under there picture gallery the last pic. is of Randy he was fishing 20 feet from my fish house and cleaned up. It is true that the fishing has been slow from all reports ,but we are doing very well,in this concentrated area.I moved my fish house 50 yards to a spot two guys had got there limits. I do have a advantage as I live on the lake and Im out there always.

Went fishing this weekend on Upper Red Lake and Lake of the Woods. It's true, fishing for crappies is slow, very slow. I think they're on the decline because of many years of slaughtered. I got about 8 for two days of fishing. We moved around alot to find those fishes. Lot's of drilling and got very tired. Lake of the Wood seems to be better but the fishes are tiny like every other years. The weekend was windy and very very cold. I don't know how someone could claimed to be catching so many crappies this winter in this website. In the past yes but as of this year I don't think so. It's either they're lying or full of it. I used every imagineable lures and every methods there are but if there are no fish you don't catch fish. period. Good fishing and any where you go, keep the lake clean.

VEXLIAR? Turn the GAIN down to 0, Then SLOWLY Turn up the GAIN until you start to SEE your JIG At that point you will See some fish. The reason this happens is that your unit is stationary and the signal is pulsating back and forth to the bottom so fast it creates a double ECHO. GOOD LUCK

Fished out of Randall's Resort on 1-17 and 1-18. Lot of little walleye and sauger but still got our limit both days. Caught and released 2 eyes over 24". Total catch for the 2 days was over 100 fish for 3 anglers. Fished in 30 ft. about 5 miles out of Zipple Bay. Gold and white on pink seemed to be the best. See you in May for the PWT.

Back in the fifties we used to catch walleyes it the 5 to 10 pound range right in Moorehead. just below the northside damn. The last time I was there though the water looked pretty paluted and i didn't fish it.. I went to Detroit Lakes instead. I fished Big Floyd and caught one walleye that tipped the scale at 4 pounds.. We have huge waleyes here in Oregon. The best place to cathc them in in the Columbia North of Portland they think they may catch a world record there someday.

Another great bite this past week and a better weekend. A lot of Perch coming in and some eater Walleyes. By the sound of all our reports that came in most of the main bars are giving up some nice Perch. Walleye action was spotty with some nice eaters coming in. One report of a limit of Perch and 3 nice Walleye in a hour and half. Get on the brake of the bars then keep moving out deeper. Mid morning to mid afternoon be in the 32' to 35' of water. The Forage minnow jig Perch Gold is still HOT. The Firetiger & Pech Fire-eye minnow, Gold Shiner & Super-Glo Buck-Shot rattle spoon (Walleye or Perch) and the glow Devil spoons. Tip them with a 1/2 a fathead for the best action.

Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 1/20/03

Walleye/Sauger and perch fishing improved mid-week when things warmed up a little. Crappie bite still extremely slow.

Anglers reported lots of activity late afternoon and the remainder of the day was slow. Glow jig and minnow seemed to be the most consistent offering.

Northern pike being taken by anglers in 12-18' of water. Large sucker minnows are the best choice here.

Spearing activity slowed way down with no recent reports of success.

Last week's snow of 1 1/2" has helped the lake some for travel, but winds have left lots of bare ice in large open areas.

Fished out of Myr Mar Friday night (1-17) thru noon Saturday (1-18). Brought home 6 nice jumbo perch and 1 keeper walleye, had to throw back 1-20" walleye. Missed a walleye due to stuck zipper on sleeping bag, and few more got off. All in all I thought the bite was pretty good. Going back up in a couple weeks. HEY sully perch lake is in Baxter next to Brainerd on highway 210. It is great for bass, walleye, northern, and panfish in the summer but in the winter it is great for sunnys, crappies, and northerns. In the summer use lindy rigs, spoons, rapalas, and buzz baits for Northern, walleye, and bass and for jumbo perch go to the point by a huge willow tree about 20 yards out from the dock and you can get just about anything. One last thing for ice fishing is for the Northerns go on the east side the lake and you might get some Walleyes too!

We had seven of us this weekend. Friday afternoon we got caught up in snow and wind, conditions were so poor that we decided to stay put. Never caught a single crappie between all of us,maybe a dozen walleye with the largest around 22 inches. Saturday was better,we came home with around thirty crappies between all of us. Not a single northern thought between the two days, which was surprise. Again we caught around a dozen walleyes, that will be something in a few more years.

Fished 7 mile flat all day Friday 01/17/2003 from 12 noon to 10:30 p.m. Started out on the west side of the flat in approx. 28-30 feet. Caught and released a 22" Walleye. Slow fishing so I pulled my bait up about 5' off the bottom and caught 2 nice jumbo Perch. Moved to top of the flat about 4:30 for the night bite in 23' of water. NOTHING! Seems they were at least biting in the deeper waters. There was a low front that came in with some snow which could have slowed them up. A friend caught and released a beautiful 25" Walleye at 10:30 just as I was leaving. They had a house on the east edge of the 7 mile flat. Staying on the outside edges of the flat seemed to produce more bites and fish. Fishing Eddy's on Thursday. (Bringing portable just in case!)<o}))))><

Good morning, The greek talked me in to leaving the sleeper where it is. He is one of the best pan fishermen I know,he has his limit and is waiting for me to come out to sleeper so he can drop a line. He caught more fish yesterday then the guys in the sleeper caughtin three days. It has been a strong day bite with the best action between 8 am and noon. They come in 15 minute streaks. As the sun goes down and you get that blue ice they all so start to bite Going after the big northern today.

I was just wondering, someone was telling me that there is a pretty good Walleye lake near Mentor that you have to walk to. I was just wondering what lake he was talking about?

If anyone knows what he was talking about, please email me.
