We fished out of Scenic bay on the 2nd and 3rd and had some success with the perch. We must have caught around 80 fish in all and kept 40 of the big ones. They were biting best on tiny little rapala swimming jigs and minnow heads. We also picked up quite a few on pink jigs and crappie minnows. They would bite on other stuff too but seemed to like these setups the best.We fished 9 to 12 feet of water right in the bay and Tim had the house set up in just about the perfect location. We didnt catch a walleye but did see a couple with the aqua view. We had some action and caught a couple northern on shiners. All in all it was a very successful 2 days and Tim does a great job trying to help everyone catch fish. His super friendly personality and generosity will definately bring us back there!! Good luck everyone !! Wish I were still there!! Working for a living sucks!!

We got a lot of mixed reports over the weekend and the first part of this week. West end Snag hole, middle of Sugar bar to the east end of the bar, east-west section of Center bar and the back side of Long bar produced the best. Most all Perch & Walleye came out of 32' to 35' of water. Best baits was the Forage #6 jig Gold Perch, Buck-shot rattle spoon gold perch or super-glow Perch, Fire-eye minnow firetiger or glow Perch, Glow devil perch and the Angel eye jr. Tip the jigs with ½ a fathead minnow, might have to let the jig lay on the bottom then twitch your rod to bring the jig just off the bottom. Watch out for the ice heaves on the lake and go around them. Several of us are chiseling a crossing down and just a few hours later it will push up again. If you see water around the heave do not cross it, we pulled out 2 trucks yesterday that dropped a wheel in the crack.

Jesse, The daily limit and the possession limit is the same. 15. I am no expert but when I fished I was in 14 ft and they were on the bottom. I saw a few on the graph at about 9-10 ft but those weren't biting. Good luck to you.

August of 1967 I fished somewhere in Minnesota, I thought was called Maple Lake at Alexandria. Everyone else is deseased that I was with. I remember my in-laws Ann & Bill Turnbeaugh rented at cabin there almost everyear, also a school teacher from Roxana, Il. and her name was Florence Dinwiddie also desceased. I was only there that one time but it was the most enjoyable fishing trip I have ever taken and would love to try and repeat it. I know things have changed throught the years but if any one there could help me with such a wonderful memory I would appreciate there help. Before I retire to the big sky I would love another fishing experience like that one. I was pulling 2 crappie at a time on my crappie rig. I wasn't using any fancy baits or lures just worms in an old john boat with trolling motor. Great!!! My e-mail address is andy1942@msn.com please send mail if you know where I am talking about.

I will be going up to Arnesen's March 7th-10th and I was wondering if anyone has heard any information about the bite at all. We will be staying in the sleeper houses. I know that jigging is the key on L.O.W. and I know that chubby darters, sweedish pimples, jigging rapalas, gold and glow baits are key. However, if there is any other good bits of information that would be helpful it would be greatly appreciated. I think we will throw out a tip-up or two also and I was wondering if I should bring big suckers or shinners for some big beaks or roaming eyes. ALSO, I JUST WANTED TO SAY HOW COOL THIS WEBSITE IS AND I'M GLAD THAT FISHING FIN'ATICS CAN GET TOGETHER AND CHAT AND SHARE TACTICS.

Buddys just got back this weekend and fish the lower half of url. Caught 80 between 12 and 14 inches in 2 hours, sounded like the action really turned on for them, had to move there house to find them though but it looks like they picked a good spot. I'll be going up this weekend and fishing the same house Saturday morning into Sunday. Hope i have the same experience they had. Word from them was anything that glows and crappie minnows. Good Luck

Any glow jig works well,I beleave a #4 is a good size I don't no the names of all the jigs a demon comes to mind. Another jig that has worked well is a ratfinky. I like to use a good size hook as there mouths are big . You can't go wrong if it glows.

Yes, you will need an extension, there is about 30 inches of ice. As far as hooks, they seemed to bite on anything that was a glow jig. I used several colors, blue, yellow, yellow and red, green and even caught one on a old tulibee hook. I tried a plain hook but didn't get a bite on it. I used wax worms for a while and caught two on that but I had to have three worms on the hook. Hope this helps!! Good luck fishing and I hope cookie finds them again!!

Will they need an extention? Have you heard any one better than the other going out of Hudacs verses Hilmans?

Once they get into town any one spot they should stop and get the updates on fishing.

Hey can someone provide some pictures of the Lake area now. My family used to own a cabin on the lake between Brainerd and Nisswa. We spent all our summers there until I was 13. This was way back in the 50's. I'm sure the area has changed greatly since then. I kinda like to know if the ol cabin is still there. It was built b ack in the 30's by my grandfather.

We were in 30 feet of water all day on Monday and did not get one fish! I did not see a fish on my locator anywhere in the water column, except some apparent motion right on the bottom. Thinking these were likely perch, we went plain hook sinker rig and bottom fished...no luck! Is Mille Lacs the next RED LAKE? I personnally will not be returning to the DEAD SEA again!

Steve,

We had an excellent time out of MCQuoids. There houses are by far the best we have stayed in over the years. They have great employees who work hard to get you on the fish. The fishing was slow on the friday when we were up there, but picked up saturday night. We ended up with 2 eyes (24, 25.5 inches) Lost one at the hole, and missed four others on the rattle reels. All the fish and bites came on set lines with shiners. A couple werwe on a plain red hook and the others were on a red glow jig. They had just moved us in 28ft of water, which I think helped with our little success. We were not mobile and drinking most of the time, which made catching some of the fish on the rattle reels difficult.I hope this helps and good luck
