Well I was up on the pond for my last time for WALLEYES this year and the fishing ok! It was windy friday and saturday. Moved off of the 5 mile gravel on friday. Moved house in 14 feet by Hennepin Island and no luck for the mighty walleye. On saturday morning moved house to 22 foot humps I have marked on Hawkbill reef. Fishing was ok there we caught 17 keeper perch including one nice 1 3/4 pounder. Also caught 5 walleyes 14 1/2",2-16", 23", 27 1/2". Overall it was the best weekend of fishing on the pond this year. Guess I should have moved around earlier in the year. I will be leaven for LOW on 2/14/03 to hopefully catch my wall mounter for the year being it didn't happen on Millacs this year. I will let ya all know how fishing was on LOW in 2 weeks.GOOD LUCK FISHIN'.

How much ice is on Ottertail lake? Is an extension needed? Is the lake driveable or are snowmobiles needed?

had an average night fishing last night. we were on the south end of the lake and we caught 24 for 3 of us. The bite was fairly hot though from 4-6...we left at 6:30...I caught into a 14 1/2" crappie, also...the nicest one I have caught this winter. Cookie...keep up the good work man!

Just came off the lake, another slow bite but enjoyed a nice steak dinner with the wife, the greek and his gal kathy on the ice.Why does food taste so good when your out there relaxing? The guys in the sleeper are not doing to well, will have to move it.Norm caught 5 in the foam house,we caught 6 total but I did get a 14 1/2 incher. What a beauty on my electric jig stick with a waxy. Did not check on any of the other guys as it is brutal out there tonight. The wind has calmed down but the temps are dropping.Telly and Todd decided to move at 2pm as Brian and his group were doing well.Sounded like Tim was doing well in that area also. Alot of shacks in that area why are they doing so well? I do see a pattern out there but will keep that to myself. Will be talking to all the guys tomorrow after church so will try and give some totals. COOKIE

Cookie: I enjoy your updates and hope you don't quit doing them because of Joel. Joel needs to get a life...My son and I hope to get up there next weekend. My son has never caught any crappies that size. Since he has graduated out of highschool and out of hockey, he now has some time for other things! (fishing) Harry

The fishing was a little difficult last weekend. We came up Thursday and cold weather moved in shortly before that. From what the other guys at the resort said this turned the fish off. Despite this fact we found enough fish to keep us happy. Even had a couple fish frys! We found our fish in 15' of water off Sunset Point Resort, but had to move around a lot. On another note, I would like to thank Ross Moore for his earlier report on this site. We were unaware that Don was back in business at Rapids Tackle in Grand Rapids. After reading his report I remembered that Don used to post ads with coupons in the WI Outdoor News and sure enough he was doing it again. Our group was able to save some cash on our bait because of this. I would like to pass on the same info that Ross did. Don is located at the edge of town on HWY 2. Give him a call for the latest fish report, 218-326-9838.

P.S. Ross you gave the wrong phone number. I tried calling and got the wrong number. This is the one that Don gave me.

I have to agree with the guy who made the comment about who ever is bashing "Cookie", sounds like they are getting a little greedy. I also agree with the noise factor comment, I don't think an auger makes enough noise to scare any fish away, but I also know how people get possesive over a spot that is producing fish, and I wouldn't nessecarily want someone moving in just as they started to bite. I wrote to this complainer thismorning and said I think there are enough fish for everyone, and I hope no one gets in a fight over a crappie......Peace....

The Greek has 7 fish and missed 4. Telly and todd have 5 fish and were marking them last night but would not take. They think tonight will be better.I fished 1 hour last night and never marked a fish. Brad and his buddies got 5 and want me to move house ZOIKS. Kevin is bringing his buddys today and will be trying southwest of us. Brian and Don are in a different area and caught crappies from noon untell dark then they shut down? Not sure how many they have? COOKIE

Cookie, thanks for all the updates. I make sure to check this site every morning before I start teaching. Too bad their are babies out there (won't mention any names, but I think you know who I am talking about) that don't understand how many people you help draw into the area. My dad, brother-in-law, and myself will be up to do some fishing Feb. 22 & 23. Hopefully the fish will be biting. Keep the postings coming. Most of us really enjoy them.

Hey Cookie. Your really getting bashed by the local boys are't you. This Joel guy obviously is not much of a business man is he. We make three to four trips up there a year, usually two pickups with three guys in each. Between the two pickups we probably spend a minimum of $200 in your little towns of Kellior and Waskish. As far as I can see these crappies have been a savior to your area. I don't how many vehicles are out there on a Sat. nite, but I bet it is in the thousands. Have you ever seen that kind of traffic when the lake was full of walleyes? I will tell you one thing, I am 50 yrs. old and I have never been to red lake to fish walleyes. From what I see Cookie, those resorts should be damn happy that there is a guy like you aroud, you have brought them thousands of dollars in business. As for Joel and his cronies, they just need to grow up. Sounds like they are pretty greedy, they want all the crappies to themselves. Good job Cookie.

kelly,I do not feel the noise bother the crappies, crappies feed on zooplanktin if there is a abundance of this food they will be there. You seem to know alot about the crappies but I'am not following you around I have no idea where you will be moving your houses to. There is plentey of room for all of us ,if my friends do good in an area I would gladly share that info as I can only keep 15 fish for myself at one time.I'm not trying to be a smart ass I respect the hard work you put in,I only want to help people catch these beautiful fish COOKIE

I went to Mark first but he could not help because Don was not around so I saw you and came over.

This message is for joe from hastings,,Stayed at Karpens last weekend(1/31, 2/1) in there rental, I don't believe that they try to move there houses around, and try to get on fish.I went from house to house, all were in 23 ft. of water and all were on sand.In the southeast part of the lake i know there is alot of rock...Might have been better if there weren't as many kids out partying.Because some of us do like to fish...The houses at Karpens were ok,bunks, stove,table&chairs...Sorry I might have to try somewhere else next time..

He was 100 yards from other guys that did not do so well. Maybe I will move my house to that spot in the future. There was no one fishing that spot but him? No one fishing for pike? Will give complete update tomorrow. PS.Met Dave and Carol nice people they were having dinner at the westwind. COOKIE

Fished out of Twin Pines on Wednesday. House was average, but the service was great. Nice folks to deal with. The bite never happened. Hardley saw any one else out in that area. We stayed at Eddy's. Got a coupon from the internet, it was only $25 for the night. The hot tub felt good after a day in the shack.

I can vouch for Cookie. I talked with him last Friday by telephone and he is just simply having a great time fishing and helping others catch fish. He takes no blame if someone gets skunked and no credit if someone does well. A few more "Cookies" in our great MN Outdoors is what we need.

Cookie, I emailed you a message about not using your house on Feb. 9th as we will be going out of Roger's Campground by Kelliher. Will let you know how we did.

The resorts are not tight lipped about fishing. That doesnt make any sense.. does it? Dont worry cookie your not by my house as Im strictly portable. I said my piece and thats enough....Hopefully people will use some common sense on the ice . Your right the lake is big, so no need to set up right next to anyone !
