I just read the report from Funman. I had a similar experience, we drove up to Agate Bay Resort ate breakfast at the restaurant paid the toll. With our spirits high and bellies full we were ready to go catch some walleyes. We then jumped in the truck that was towing our fish house and were about to drive out onto the frozen dead sea. We did not quite get there. The gentlemen checking passes to get out on the lake stopped us. He had a radio in his hand and was talking to someone. After his conversation with the person on the other end he told us we could not drive on the ice and that we could get our money back inside. When we asked him why, he told us the owner of Agate Bay Resort does not allow "fish houses on wheels" on the ice. We got are money back with a few choice words being exchanged and drove down the street and paid someone else to do exactly what we came out to do. I'll never go back to Agate Bay Resort again thats my choice, the owners choice was not to accept our business. My friends and I still went fishing and will continue to go fishing on Mille Lacs. We will continue to spend money at Mille Lacs area businesses just not there. This little letter is more or less for other resort owners, if you conspire to not let certain types of fish houses out on the lake, you will lose, somebody down the line will plow a road and let us on. Oh and by the way it's not your lake. My lively hood doesn't depend on fishing Mille Lacs yours does.

Weekend ot the 8-9th of February First Stop is the Holiday Station in ISLE. Meet my two best friend. We went to Agot Bay resort to launch our wheeled fishhouse. Had a great breakfast, during payment, I noticed the owner a little slow to accept money, he may have been busy. We paid for ramp access and proceeded on. We got about 50 feet away for the payment area and we were stopped and denied access because of the wheeled fishhouse. This guy was not about to allow us on the lake through his ramp and was not about to make any compromise. He will never get my business and I hope that you all take this warning. Eastside, Flamingo Bay is cheaper to launch from and the owner is real friendly. I suggest this strongly, my friends and I had a great time and we caught not a thing but just had fun.

I am going to Mille Lacs with some buddies for a beer drinking/fishing getaway. I am staying at Dickies. Anybody else have any opinions on Dickies?

Jason go to www.mapquest.com and type in your address and Lakeview Resort on Maple as your destination. This website will give you turn for turn, mile for mile directions. Really easy to follow! You may need to find address to Lake View and that is available on web site too.

Tried fishing Moss yesterday but too windy, went to Daniels and got some nice bites but no fish. Lake Trout fishing has but slow but than it has been pretty chilly and not a lot of time spend trying!

Fished Twin Pines over the weekend of the 7th and was very dissapointed. No fish to fry to go with all the cold beer. For some of us it was our first ice fishing trip and all the excitment of fishing Mille Lac fizzled out towards the end of our second night. We tried it all, minnows, mousies, red hooks and fished at several depths but no luck. So after getting skunked we reeled them up and headed home. The whole experience was fun, the only thing missing was the fish.

Good point Kevin. I did not say I had contacted ALL resorts, but it may look as though that's what I meant. MOST were contacted, yours was not one of them.

Sorry about the misunderstanding!

I personally feel that this site makes the resorts on upper Red Lake look bad by saying none of them wanted anything to do with this site. I personally do all the web site information for West Wind and I have never been contacted in anyway about this site, I found it on a search engine one day and I think it is a very good site. I just thought I would throw my thoughts in there on that because the resorts on URL do all they can to help provide service to the fisherman.

Paul from Deluth, there has been some talk at the Red Lake Nation offering spotfishing in the near future. There is a article in the Bemidji Pioneer paper dated Sept.20th 2002. At this time these portions are off limits to all non band members.

A group of 18 went out of Dickies and we caught about 18 fish. One perch 11 inches and 1 northern 34 inches. The rest were perch about 4 inches. Had about 10 vexillars in the group and 2 cameras. This group goes evert year to a different big lake and always catches alot of fish. Dickie promised us at the ice show at the rivercenter that he would move us if it was slow and then didn't when we asked. The service was terrible and the houses are poor and dirty. He had us in 11feet and we all thought that was to shallow. I wont go back to the Dead Sea. I read Dickies was not a great place to go and I can conferm that. Not one walleye between 18 guys.

just went for a walk down to the lake, what a beautiful night, the stars and moon are crystal clear. Todd and Telly made the big move yesterday in that bitter wind, they ended getting 10 last night and 3 this morning. They were very happy and said they will be coming up again soon. Great guys even though they did not bring home 60 fish, they had a good time. Kevin called today from the lake they were looking for a day bite and I never got a chance to hook up with him he said he got 10 last night and buddys only got 2. Brian and his crew had a cooler full and left last night as one of the guys was not feeling to well. There were 5 of them , I beleave a cooler will hold from 30 to 40 fish? Have a couple guys out there tonight. The guys in sleeper went home with 20 fish in 2 days, they also made a trip to L.O.W. Did not do to well there 2 saugers. Never talked to Tim so have no idea how they did. Guys in cabin went out at dusk have not came in yet. Have guys coming tomorrow will see how they do .Will be moving sleeper to new area and fishing it hard for the next 7 nights. COOKIE

went out on friday ...cold all weekend. went out of Hillman's...all the way to the end of the road (7 miles or so) then about 1/4 mile north. Caught a bunch of small perch a couple northern and released some nice walleye (if ya catch one with a pink jig in it's mouth please send the jig back to me....it's my fiance's good luck charm) only one crappie. the guys a hundred yards north filled out a bucket of crappie between 4pm and 9pm and another bucket between 2am and 4am. I guess you just gotta be on them. Pink glow jigs and orange glow jigs seem to be working... the bite is very, very light....if you have a vexilar use it.

here is a different question, has anyone ever fished the lower red lake? I can't believe the native community is missing the boat on the crappie fishing you have on url. Maybe they don't have the ### upper does.. or at least how about the chance to fish the rest of the lake...can you comment cookie. thanks for all the updates on url. My friends and I would like to thank you and you can let the Red lake area know we have been doing our part for your economy.

Fished from Thursday-Sunday. No walleyes (and only saw 1 on the camera) but we did manage to catch a few perch. Fishing was slow and it was COLD. We tried a few different depths, from 10-40. Best luck was in about 30 ft where we managed to catch some perch and a pike.
