Name: mike1103 Lake_of_the_WoodsJust returned from LOW trip over the weekend. We fished out of BirchView Resort. They have houses out 12 miles past Pine Island. We fished Fri, Sat and Sun with good results. Many walleye 19-22 inches and sauger 14-17 inches. Several JUMBO perch as well. Larger glow jigs and anything gold seemed to work. Used shiners and chubs fishing anywhere from 6 inches to 10 ft. off the bottom. Biggest fish were caught early and late 5-6 ft. up from bottom. Minnow choice didn't seem to matter much. We had 4 guys in our house and for the 3 days caught well over 100 fish, many returned to the water. We were in 32 ft. with soft bottom, a few rocks. A little jiggle of the bait once in a while sometimes triggerd strikes, other times they preferred still lines. Ice is 32 inches plus so you need an extension if you want to put out tip-ups. Have fun.... we did ! Name: coneyking Upper_Red_LakeCookie: we want to thank you very much for having us up there last weekend. the fishing was the best we have seen this year. nice to see wild bill and his group, they make for some fun times. never heard so many great singers in one group, and they could sing anything. hahaha. just a super group of guys.Would like to thank Bill and his wife for having us over for lunch and cake on Bills B-day.Thank you so much for your hospitality, hope to see ya this week at the coney. cookie will let you know when the next batch of coney sauce is coming up. It was an unbelievable bite, I was using 3 inch shiners in 30 feet of water Name: cookie Upper_Red_LakeWell its been a long but fun weekend,Crazy Bill,Stu, Phil went home sunday morning with 43 fish. Crazy Bills buddies showed up saturday nite ,they had the music blasting, they were singing and pounding the fish ,while Crazy Bill was 10 feet away and couldn't catch those last 2 fish. Hard to understand? Were they cutting the fish off from getting to Bill. Jerry the coney king went home with 60 fish for his group of 4. Rick and Bill caught 30 fish with 3 that were close to 15 inches, I put my house on that spot today and would think we will do good there.Set a couple up buy my other house and they caught 30 fish between 3:30 and 5:00pm. befor dark? The greek had a rough birthday sat. and only had 2 fish he decided to stay tonight and was closing in on there 30. Mike and his family got 41 fish and lost a portable from the wind saturday night. COOKIE Name: Ryan Highberg Mille_Lacswell, i went up this weekend adn first time all year caught me a full limit of keepers and 3 fish 23", 26", and 28". lots of little perch but was finally satisfied. Went off by myself in a portable and caught them all out of cove in 17 feet. Had a blast, but, i dont think i'll be coming back to mille lacs for a long while. Either the fish are gone, or they've just shut off. Good luck. Fatheads and glow jigs. Name: Spottail Lake_BemidjiSolid Perch bite is now going. Afternoon and evening bite is good, but with this moon the past week, the best is from 11a till 1p. all sizes with some 12 inchers thrown in. 25ft north end larger fatheads green jig Name: Brian D Upper_Red_LakeCookie, Please email me on fishing. Thanks, Brian Name: scott Lake_of_the_Woodsstayed in sleeper house on zippel bay this past weekend. fishing was disappointing to say the least. my wife and i caught 15-20 sauger a day with a couple walleye in there. small fish, slow action. i spent the past two weekends in a row on buffalo bay, manitoba water and just killed the fish. more fish and better mix of keepers, along with several flags. maybe just got spoiled, but regardless, that is where i will return this weekend. the "fishermen" who spend more time driving around and drinking beer can stay on zippel, i will catch the fish. zippel resort put us in 28 foot of water, wasn't happy with the results. on buffalo bay we have been fishing the north end of heppners bar on the 18 foot break with amazing success. good luck to all. Name: Mike Lake_WinnibigoshishWas on Winnie on Sat. 2-15 fished in 30' to 32' of water out of Highbanks in 4 hours caught 35 Perch 20 keepers 5 were 13" rest were 11" using waxies. Caught 3 nice size tullibees. Perch were eating mayfly larvae. Sometimes when I caught the perch they would regurgitate the mayflies then I would use them for bait, and the perch would hit them right away. Anybody know a good way to clean a tullibee? I've never cleaned one before! Some say they are pretty good if you clean them right. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Name: Cory Detroit_Lakes_FishingHey jerri are the crappies still biteing? If they are how do you get there from DL Name: Dick Upper_Red_LakeI was fishing Red Lake on 2-13 & 2-15 and never caught a crappie. I would like to try once more this year. Would love to have some help on where to go. (GPS coordinates or directions) Repy: gedlaral.aol.com Thanks!!! Name: BAGGY Upper_Red_LakeWas up at red lake Feb 15 16 17,the bite was pretty slow and short. We were out 5.4 miles from pressure ridge out of Hillmans north of road 5/8 of a mile. Caught most of crappies from 5:30 to 6:45 pm with stragglers showing up afterwords (2 or 3).Caught several in the AM (2 OR 3) nothing to get to excited about. Friday nite our fising camp had the ice auger stolen. This was discovered saturday AM early. One thing nice about winter and snow is that it leaves tracks wich do not go away. The auger was drilled into the ice about 10 feet from the fish house door where it was discovered a set of foot prints wich led to a set of vehicle tracks. These tracks came from a couple of young fellers who the nite before were drilling with a hand auger about 100 yards from us. Remembering what type of vehicle they were driving the tracks led away from the area for about 1/2 mile where low & behold there was the same rig , the owner of the auger walked up to the pickup and found his auger in the box next to another one.He asked one of guys where they got the augers from, they did not come up with an answer so he called 911 got the sheriff on his cell phone seeing this one of them sang like a canary. He went on to explain that they lifted the other auger from the party next to us . Finding this out the owner told the kid to un hook the trailer he was towing and we are going to return the other auger ,he did. The sheriff asked if the situation was under controll at that point it was. The owner of the second auger was very happy to get his auger back not so happy with the boys though. That full moon this weekend was making weird things happen cya by...... Name: Lyubo Upper_Red_LakeSorry, to be out of line... but guys, for me any general info on ice fishing will be of help! Name: Big Tuna Lake_of_the_WoodsFished 12 Mile Reef Friday and Saturday in 30 feet, gold jig worked well, gold jigging spoon also. Wasn't fast and furious but just stayed there and plugged away. The 2 of us kept 9 walleyes, 11 perch-most were jumbos, and 6 saugers. Threw back the small ones, or else we gave them to our buddies Paul and Mike next to us for their "fish aqurium" as I called it, they said it was their game bucket. Name: chilly willy Upper_Red_LakeWent up on saturday. Fished from 11:30 to 8:30 about 4 miles out from hillmans. I caught 9 and my buddy caught nothing but perch in the holes 2 feet away from mine. Minnows on a glow hook worked just as well as a red glow jig tipped with a minnow. We caught most of the fish during the day and it was very slow. Fishing was tough. Hope it picks up soon. Fished 4 miles out on the republican side, wife wanted to stay independent and fish the middle of the road but I had to explain to her how deep we would have to drill to find productive water and the democratic side had been kind of weak lately. So..we went right. Fish started hitting around 430 and kept it up until 730. Left with 10, missed and lost many more. It gets interesting working 13-14 inch fish through LOTS of ice. thanks for the interesting website.
