Heading to LOW and fishing 27th thru 2nd. Going for pike out of Warroad and maybe some walleyes. Are the pike in the shallows now? And has it been good? If we go for walleyes where is a good spot fairly close, what and how are they biting? Thanks and good luck to you all.

FISHED OUT OF LYONS SLEEPERS THE 20TH THRU THE 23RD. 4 GUYS, CAUGHT OVER 100 FISH. FISH FRY EACH NIGHT AND BROUGHT OUR LIMIT OF WALLEYS HOME. THE HIGH PRESSURE AND COLD MADE THEM A LITTLE SPOTTY AT TIMES BUT THE SIZE OF THE FISH CAUGHT MADE UP FOR THE STEADY ACTION AS WE HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST. TAKE YOUR VEXILR AND GO AFTER THOSE SUSPENDED FISH. ODDS ARE THEY ARE WALLEYES AND THEY FOR THE MOST PART ARE ACTIVE FISH THAT WILL BITE. ANYWHERE FROM 4'TO 12'OFF THE BOTTOM. BUCKSHOTS, JIGGING RAPALAS AND GLOW WEASELS WERE ALL PRODUCTIVE.

Anything gold worked tipped with a chub.

I was up at LOW 2/15-2/18. Stayed at Arnesen's. The first night in a sleeper and the next 2 in a cabin. the Fishing was great. Caught over 250 alot of small fish but plenty of big to stay interested. The sleeper and cabins werre nice and the service was very good. Alot of nice peopel. Iwas there with 2 small kids and they were great. 1/4 ounce gold kastmasters and pimples were the key for us. A flasher works great alot of fish suspended and they were the nicer fish. Caught a nice mix of eyes auger and perch. Used fatheads and wished I had brought some shiners to see how they would have worked.

Enjoy! it is an incredible fishery

We're heading up to the big lake next weekend. We were up there on a two day trip at the end of Jan.We fished off of Elm Point in about 18 ft. of water and just hammered the big jacks. From about 1pm to about 4:30 we caught a 38, 37, and 2- 35 inch pike on a size 8 tip up rig with decoy sucker minnows on them. Can I expect the same? Shallower water is what I've heard for this time of year but hoping for more input on these monsters.See ya next weekend!

WALLEYELLPOUT TRY CUTTING THE BOTTOM OUT OF A 5 GALLON BUCKET AND PUT IT ON THE ICE AND PUT YOUR AUGER INSIDE THE BUCKET. THIS SHOULD KEEP MOST OF THE ICE OUT OF YOUR HOUSE. HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU.

I was on L.O.W. The last five days. Three of us got 6 walleyes and 21 saugers. We also caught 4 pound and a half walleyes. Two walleye measured 25 inches. We were at 32 and 35 feet out of Adrian's resort road. When we got there the temp was 23 below on night. Caught the big walleyes about 12 feet off the bottom. The walleye were hitting spotty. Also caught a nice pound perch. The last day we left on Feb 18 a blizzard came through. Drifts piled up about 4 feet. It took us about an hour to get off the ice. Most of the saugers were coming off the bottom. We probably caught about 100 over five days but tossed back more than half. There was about 32 inches of ice. We were using fatheads. We tried suckers but didn't have that much luck with the suckers. Great time at L.O.W.

We were talking about how to set up our fish house without getting ice in the house. The house has six holes and the dimension is 17 feet by 10 feet. There's a wood floor but when we drill we get ice all over the floor and it takes us about 15 to 20 minutes to get the ice off the floor. Is there a way to drill without getting ice all over the floor. The fish house is about 12 inches off the ice before we set it down. We would probably need an extension to drill while the house is still jacked up. Would it be possible to set up some stick markers and drill down a foot. Then back up the house and complete the drilling of the holes. Then back up the house onto the completed holes? Does anyone know how to solve this problem. Thanks.

Icer,

I haven't fished the springsteel derby in a couple of years, but when I did it was a one hole limit per person, and I believe it still is. They usually rope off an area right off of the island, so it isn't near buffalo, pretty much directly inbetween Warroad and Springsteel.

Honored President's Day by spending it north of Gull Rock over 34' of water. Most fun I've had with my vexilar in a long time! Saw lots of fish, and had some come screaming up from the bottom to hit my bait on the way down--one jumbo perch came up to hit it 10' up! Caught limit of 18"-20" eyes, a few sauger, some perch and 10 pound eelpout on 4 lb. test crappie rig--fun. It and the bigger walleyes were up 6 to 10 feet.

Just returned from LOW trip over the weekend. We fished out of BirchView Resort. They have houses out 12 miles past Pine Island. We fished Fri, Sat and Sun with good results. Many walleye 19-22 inches and sauger 14-17 inches. Several JUMBO perch as well. Larger glow jigs and anything gold seemed to work. Used shiners and chubs fishing anywhere from 6 inches to 10 ft. off the bottom. Biggest fish were caught early and late 5-6 ft. up from bottom. Minnow choice didn't seem to matter much. We had 4 guys in our house and for the 3 days caught well over 100 fish, many returned to the water. We were in 32 ft. with soft bottom, a few rocks. A little jiggle of the bait once in a while sometimes triggerd strikes, other times they preferred still lines. Ice is 32 inches plus so you need an extension if you want to put out tip-ups. Have fun.... we did !

stayed in sleeper house on zippel bay this past weekend. fishing was disappointing to say the least. my wife and i caught 15-20 sauger a day with a couple walleye in there. small fish, slow action. i spent the past two weekends in a row on buffalo bay, manitoba water and just killed the fish. more fish and better mix of keepers, along with several flags. maybe just got spoiled, but regardless, that is where i will return this weekend. the "fishermen" who spend more time driving around and drinking beer can stay on zippel, i will catch the fish. zippel resort put us in 28 foot of water, wasn't happy with the results. on buffalo bay we have been fishing the north end of heppners bar on the 18 foot break with amazing success. good luck to all.

Fished 12 Mile Reef Friday and Saturday in 30 feet, gold jig worked well, gold jigging spoon also. Wasn't fast and furious but just stayed there and plugged away. The 2 of us kept 9 walleyes, 11 perch-most were jumbos, and 6 saugers. Threw back the small ones, or else we gave them to our buddies Paul and Mike next to us for their "fish aqurium" as I called it, they said it was their game bucket.
