I would like to go north Jan. 11-18 to ice fish. I am going to end my trip at the Brainard Jaycees Extravaganza. I am wondering where would the best place to stay & fish. Can you rent ice houses that you stay in? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Fishing is great right now if you're able to brave the elements. Pulled cranks(rattling, suspending) in shallow water(5-8 ft) from 6:30pm 'til 3:00am on Thursday and boated 40 'eyes and 5 northerns. All 'eyes were between 21 and 27 inches. Very fat fish. Burping up lots of 3 inch perch minnows.

Saturday, we boated 32 eyes between the 3 of us. All received a reprieve because they wer all over the slot. Fishing was good but not a single perch was caught. Where have all the baitfish gone? No wonder the eyes all but jump into the boat. (P.S. 3 of the fish were tagged and theywere caught near Sloppy Joe's on the Southwest end of the lake.

Fishing was incredible on Saturday. Fish have moved deeper, 22-36 feet. Larger fish were off the breaks in 31-35. Over 120 fish on saturday 3 boats. Largest fish 29.5 with 32 of the eyes over 26. With out a doubt one of the best days that lake has ever produced. Leeches, 9 foot snells. Color it varied as the day went on. Be sure to utilize your GPS.

My wife and I were fishing June 4,5 and 6. Caught many fish over the limit, and a few under. Largest two 24 inch Walleyes, only kept 3 in slot limit. Lots of fun, one night we caught 25 in a two hour span, mostly over the limit.

Excellent bite right now we caught 23 nice fish on the sand just 2 miles NW of the Malmo access in about 6 hours. The two of us were using leeches on 1/4 oz lead jigs. 27" was the big fish of the trip 3 nice perch and 2 eyes in the slot made a good dinner.
