Name: cookie Upper_Red_LakeJust came off the lake, another slow bite but enjoyed a nice steak dinner with the wife, the greek and his gal kathy on the ice.Why does food taste so good when your out there relaxing? The guys in the sleeper are not doing to well, will have to move it.Norm caught 5 in the foam house,we caught 6 total but I did get a 14 1/2 incher. What a beauty on my electric jig stick with a waxy. Did not check on any of the other guys as it is brutal out there tonight. The wind has calmed down but the temps are dropping.Telly and Todd decided to move at 2pm as Brian and his group were doing well.Sounded like Tim was doing well in that area also. Alot of shacks in that area why are they doing so well? I do see a pattern out there but will keep that to myself. Will be talking to all the guys tomorrow after church so will try and give some totals. COOKIE Name: Son of David Upper_Red_LakeWould someone please call the waskish WAAAAAAHmbulance! Name: Harry Upper_Red_LakeCookie: I enjoy your updates and hope you don't quit doing them because of Joel. Joel needs to get a life...My son and I hope to get up there next weekend. My son has never caught any crappies that size. Since he has graduated out of highschool and out of hockey, he now has some time for other things! (fishing) Harry Name: Shellychick Upper_Red_LakeCook, please keep the reports going as i am thinking of comming to URL.I Enjoy reading your reports on a daily basis. Name: wildwing Upper_Red_LakeI have to agree with the guy who made the comment about who ever is bashing "Cookie", sounds like they are getting a little greedy. I also agree with the noise factor comment, I don't think an auger makes enough noise to scare any fish away, but I also know how people get possesive over a spot that is producing fish, and I wouldn't nessecarily want someone moving in just as they started to bite. I wrote to this complainer thismorning and said I think there are enough fish for everyone, and I hope no one gets in a fight over a crappie......Peace.... Name: cookie Upper_Red_LakeThe Greek has 7 fish and missed 4. Telly and todd have 5 fish and were marking them last night but would not take. They think tonight will be better.I fished 1 hour last night and never marked a fish. Brad and his buddies got 5 and want me to move house ZOIKS. Kevin is bringing his buddys today and will be trying southwest of us. Brian and Don are in a different area and caught crappies from noon untell dark then they shut down? Not sure how many they have? COOKIE Name: Church Upper_Red_LakeCookie, thanks for all the updates. I make sure to check this site every morning before I start teaching. Too bad their are babies out there (won't mention any names, but I think you know who I am talking about) that don't understand how many people you help draw into the area. My dad, brother-in-law, and myself will be up to do some fishing Feb. 22 & 23. Hopefully the fish will be biting. Keep the postings coming. Most of us really enjoy them. Name: Doug Upper_Red_LakeHey Cookie. Your really getting bashed by the local boys are't you. This Joel guy obviously is not much of a business man is he. We make three to four trips up there a year, usually two pickups with three guys in each. Between the two pickups we probably spend a minimum of $200 in your little towns of Kellior and Waskish. As far as I can see these crappies have been a savior to your area. I don't how many vehicles are out there on a Sat. nite, but I bet it is in the thousands. Have you ever seen that kind of traffic when the lake was full of walleyes? I will tell you one thing, I am 50 yrs. old and I have never been to red lake to fish walleyes. From what I see Cookie, those resorts should be damn happy that there is a guy like you aroud, you have brought them thousands of dollars in business. As for Joel and his cronies, they just need to grow up. Sounds like they are pretty greedy, they want all the crappies to themselves. Good job Cookie. Name: cookie Upper_Red_Lakekelly,I do not feel the noise bother the crappies, crappies feed on zooplanktin if there is a abundance of this food they will be there. You seem to know alot about the crappies but I'am not following you around I have no idea where you will be moving your houses to. There is plentey of room for all of us ,if my friends do good in an area I would gladly share that info as I can only keep 15 fish for myself at one time.I'm not trying to be a smart ass I respect the hard work you put in,I only want to help people catch these beautiful fish COOKIE Name: cookie Upper_Red_LakeKelly I have not been following Buddy around,Ive only moved my house twice, the first time was 75 yards from where I was, as friends did well there. The second time is where I'm at now.If you plow a road is that off limits to all fishermen? I have not crowded you your houses are not even close to me. All I've done is report how I and my friends have been doing why the personel attack.I did not no that the white house was yours and it was atleast 200 yards away I'm sorry . I will be moving 100 yards to the south west if possible, again I need to stay close to the roads. Name: cookie Upper_Red_LakeKelly ,your right I'am at a disadvantage with out a plow.So I have to put my house close to the plowed roads,But I'm getting tired of these false statements. At no time have I spyied on you.The only time I've been to one of your shacks was when them guys were stuck and ask me if I could find them some help . I went to Mark first but he could not help because Don was not around so I saw you and came over. Name: cookie Upper_Red_Lakekelly p getting tiried of these false statements,at no time have I spied on you. Your right I am at a disadvantage with out a plow so I have to stay close to the plowed roads. I don't even no which houses are yours except the three to the east of me. Do you feel Im to close to you? I came up to you last week and stated my friends were doing real well over there ,I was not spying on you I was pointing out an area they were catching fish just trying to be a nice guy,I'm sorry if you feel I'm spying on you> I did stop at one of your shacks when you were there because them guys were stuck and they ask me if I could find somone to help them. I first ask Mark but Don was not around so I saw you and thought you could help them again I'm sorry for being a nice guy. Name: kelly-p Upper_Red_Lake<personal attack is snipped> Name: red eye Upper_Red_LakeHey Cookie I bet i know why you can't get your email through to Joel.He probably cacelled his subscricption to his internet provider,on account of all the emails from people telling him what they think...Anaway fish on. good luck to everyone.. Name: cooikie Upper_Red_LakeThe greek got here with his new fish house 8 by 20 sweet. Got report from Kevin the reason he was gone last night when I went out there is he caught his 15 crappies. He was 100 yards from other guys that did not do so well. Maybe I will move my house to that spot in the future. There was no one fishing that spot but him? No one fishing for pike? Will give complete update tomorrow. PS.Met Dave and Carol nice people they were having dinner at the westwind. COOKIE Name: cookie Upper_Red_Lakereptron,go to upper red lake.then scroll down to forum home page.you should be able to find out locations of cribs.otherwise all the resorts have maps with cordinces.cookie Name: justwannacatchfis Upper_Red_Lakereptron- I to just tried going on the web site and i can not get on it, they must be updating in. Just try back later and it should be fine Name: Buck Upper_Red_LakeI can vouch for Cookie. I talked with him last Friday by telephone and he is just simply having a great time fishing and helping others catch fish. He takes no blame if someone gets skunked and no credit if someone does well. A few more "Cookies" in our great MN Outdoors is what we need. Cookie, I emailed you a message about not using your house on Feb. 9th as we will be going out of Roger's Campground by Kelliher. Will let you know how we did. Name: reptron Upper_Red_LakeExcellent forum! Cookie, we should all be like you and provide insight to those looking to try their luck on URL. Am trying to find the fish crib coordinates-the redlakeassn website does not work well-maybe it's my PC. Anyone know of another website or resource to try online? thanks, Reptron Name: Joel Upper_Red_LakeThe resorts are not tight lipped about fishing. That doesnt make any sense.. does it? Dont worry cookie your not by my house as Im strictly portable. I said my piece and thats enough....Hopefully people will use some common sense on the ice . Your right the lake is big, so no need to set up right next to anyone ! Name: mitch Upper_Red_LakeCookie, I know you are busy but if you have a minute could you please email mail me. I have a few ?'s for ya. Thank's for all the reports. Name: cookie Upper_Red_LakeCome one come all I will be fishing this weekend out of Hillmens. We are set up 4.7 miles out of hillmens the second right after the basket ball hoop. You turn north and follow road about 1/2 mile we are on the left side of road. There is a foam house ,a blue house with white trim, ther will be some portables in the area also. This is the area uncles got 73 crappies wensday evning. GOOD LUCK TO ALL COOKIE Name: GUY G Upper_Red_LakeCOOKIE IVE NEVER FISHED URL BEFORE IM IN NEED OF INFO FROM WHERE TO GET ON TO WHERE TO FISH IWOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP THANKS Name: 7guysgungho Upper_Red_LakeTime to move beyond Joel! Life is about having fun and enjoying yourself. Some people get it and others don't. I look at this site for information about crappies. I don't know Cookie or Joel. However, I do know what Crappies look like but it seems that I need help to catch them and that is why I look at this site. Please help me catch fish! Soap operas belong on TV not here. Life is too short to be bitter!!! My questions: Has the N or S side of URL been more effective this year? How many groups of houses are on the south end? Name: John B. Upper_Red_LakeNo response from any URL resorts? Are you serious? Don't they realize this website has more traffic and is the number one website in the search engines? Are they just blind? Talk about a wasted advertising opportunity! Jeepers, this website is WELL KNOWN amongst my fishermen friends. We trust the guy who runs it. He's not in it for the money....he does it because he likes fishing. (He said so to us in a personal email) So let's see: 1. #1 website 2. #1 in traffic 3. The most trusted website 4. The most talked about website among us weekend warriors... Man...some resort owners just must be blind! This place is a potential goldmine for them....... Thanks webmaster for providing an HONEST website! Name: OBart Upper_Red_LakeCookie, I think it is great how you keep everyone informed on the activity at URL. For that I thank you. I will be at URL the 14th, 15th & 16th with a couple buddies. If you have a fish house open or know of someone that does, even for part of the visit, please let me know. Thanks, obart150@aol.com Name: justwannacatchfish Upper_Red_LakeI don't know what up with this guy bashing cookie. Even if the case would be that he is following houses so what he's catching fish and he is sharing his reports and tips unlike the other resorts. If you go out to any given spot with a cluster of houses what do you see:? Resort houses right in the mix of them chances are these were the first houses put out and chances are that Joel your house is problably right there to. I don't see cookie bragging that he is some almight scout, he is just letting people know how the fish are bitting so people like you and I that have a 4-5 hour drive have something to look forward to. And about the webmasters note, if you go to <snipped> you will see that many resorts are on the red lake forum there. Why is that i don't know maybe becuase of the advertising they get. I intetions are not to make any one made, but there is no need to point fingures and rip some body down because they enjoy the sport and want to se other people enjoy as well. This site was set up to share stories and to help eachother not to bash peopl. Good luch fishing all! Name: Al C. Upper_Red_LakeJoel, not sure why you're such a bitter man, I find your claim completely baseless. Cookie doesn't need to "follow" anyone around. Catch fish with Cookie all the time when no one's around. Don't be greedy...there's enough resources for all...lighten up.
